From the start, the new SpectraSound SST-1122 rotary speaker amplifier was designed first to produce the warm sound that, until now, tubes only generated in a vintage rotary speaker cabinet. The SpectraSound™ engineers spent years developing and testing the new amp making sure it had the warm tube sound. Some company’s use a 12AU7 preamp tube to try and add the tube warmth but that can be easily over driven sounding bad. Now, not only do you get that warm sound of tubes, you gain the high power and reliability that solid state amplification provides without losing that warm sound.
Direct Amplifier Replacement
If you own a vintage rotary speaker cabinet, see “Compatibility” in the Specifications, then you can replace that old tube amplifier. The SST-1122 has the AC outlets for the motors and supports the 16ohm speakers.
Motor Protection and 3 Position Speed Control
The SST-1122 also has built in protection to help reduce the stress on the motors when changing speeds but it doesn’t interfere with the timing. PLUS if you have a two speed Leslie, you can now add STOP when you purchase and install an optional 3 position switch.
Sonic Cabinet Matching and Tuning
Each vintage cabinet has its own sonic characteristics or tone. There are three adjustments that allow you to “dial in” the optimum resonance of each cabinet if it needs it.
Ready for the new drawbar clones
If you own one of the new drawbar clones, and if it has an 11 pin connector, the SST-1122 is directly plug in compatible. The SST-1122 reduces the number of extra boxes and add-ons needed to get that tube sound. Less equipment to haul and fewer connections equals less to go wrong.
Visual Diagnostics
With the aid of five different color LEDs it’s easy to see if there might be a problem. From Warm Up, Ready, Fast rotor, Slow rotor, Stand-by and if you’re pushing the volume limits.
Electrically Safer
Meets the N.E.C. code for separation of AC power and audio signal. Also, when no music is being played the SST-1122 idles down thus saving power.
